2016 – PEUGEOT 208 PYRIT

The model is based on the Peugeot 208 GT, with a 1.6 Turbo Flex engine of 173 hp and the exclusive i-Cockpit. Inspired by Greek and individual hedonism, the concept is focused on the various sensations provided by the SportDrive steering, one of the main features of the exclusive i-Cockpit and active agent in the dynamic performance of the 208 GT.The name of this concept is inspired by the stone ‘pyrite’, an iron mineral that mixes the colors yellow and gold and that has isometric crystals apparent, generally like geometric forms. Highlight for the use of Swarovski crystals in the carpets and the traditional rupture in the painting of the bodywork. The project took one year to get ready and follows the line of mineral-based inspiration premiered on the Peugeot Onyx.Technical datI-Cockpit : The i-Cockpit concept is so innovative and unique that it has become a global trademark of PeugeotLED panel : The red LEDs have been replaced by white lights that contribute to a unique ambiance. Similar work was done on the sills, which are also illuminated, increasing exclusivity. In the same panel there is a special finish, with copper stitching that refers to the outer coating of the 208 Pyrit.Sport steering wheel : The steering is accurate and the curves are agile, thanks to the reduced size of the Sportdrive Steering Wheel, which also provides a complete view of the dashboard. In it, Peugeot puts the driver in a position different from the one usually known, allowing him to enjoy the dynamic, sporty and safe behavior, without leaving aside the comfort that the new compact offers.

Engine : This is the first Peugeot Flex turbo, which has no need for petrol spares and is associated with a 6-speed manual transmission, which clearly emphasizes sportiness. With a power of 173 hp alcohol and 240 Nm of torque, this engine achieves maximum torque at only 1,400 revolutions.

Central Multimedia : Positioned in the foreground, the multimedia center at the hands and at the same height of the eyes of the driver and the front passenger offers maximum security, comfort and, of course, technology in a second generation equipment.

The big difference in the design of the 208 Pyrit for the production model is on the exterior of the hatch, marked by the unprecedented breakdown of the copper color produced by adhesives (this coloring was specially created by the Peugeot AmLat design team for this car) mixed with a matte black microtexturized paint. The 17-inch Carbone wheels of the standard hatch get new drapery. The diamond parts gained dark varnish while the graffiti passed through matte black microtexturized paint. To ensure an even stronger visual effect, one of the spokes of the wheel is coated with copper finish for a sporty result with class and exclusivity. To further differentiate this concept car, a set of prototype headlights with flashing LEDs and lanterns with unique design has also been applied. The double exhaust tip has changed its look and receives a copper feel inside to reinforce its exclusivity. For the same purpose, the front grille was coated with copper details for more sportiness. The finish of the seats receives unprecedented manufacture inspired by the Gran Turismo European competition of the 1950s, using high quality natural black leather, combined with embroidered black Alcantara. The same Alcantara was used in the finish of the ceiling and the columns, as well as in the sunshades and the steering wheel cover. Reinforcing the unprecedented customization of the 208 Pyrit, some exclusive accessories come to give even more sophistication to the interior of the car, such as yellow-gold crystals of the Maison Jean-Paul Gaultier pour Swarovski.

Peugeot Sport engineers focused their attention on the Peugeot 308 and the result of their work and ability is the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport, the most radical model of the Peugeot line. But they decided to go further by offering a competition version. This step from the road to the track led to the creation of the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup. Sculpted by the Peugeot designers, the generous and streamlined forms given to the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup show a competition technology aimed at demanding customers, eager for performance and pilotage. Equipped with the same 1.6 THP engine as the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport, the 308 Racing Cup produces 308 hp at this early stage of its development, ie 38 hp more than the road version.Powerful LinesIts appearance, its curves and its aerodynamics, show a thoroughbred character. Based on the Peugeot 308, the model has now been given a muscular and specific style. The Peugeot 308 Racing Cup has been designed to give the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup an athletic dimension, particularly its width, which is elevated to 1,910 mm, or 106 mm more than the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport. Its aerofoil, designed to secure the rear of the vehicle, was directly inspired by the WTCC regulations. Its front and rear bumpers, as well as its lower spoiler, are specific and aim to give you, in addition to its natural aerodynamic importance, an aggressive air. The aesthetics are supplemented by equally specific 18-inch wheels fitted with slick or rain tires (27/65).The technology on boardThe 1.6 THP engine came directly from the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport. Vélizy’s specialists sought new performances to respond to strong competition in the field of competition. Thus, thanks to the turbo of the 208 T16, the PEUGEOT 308 Racing Cup has already reached the mark of the 308 hp. The continuity of its development could offer even more radical values.

The Peugeot 308 Racing Cup also picks up elements of its “twin road twin” suspension, such as the pivots or the rear crossbar. On the other hand, to adapt to the competition, the engineers opted for specific parts, such as the 6-piston caliper brakes. The transmission has, in turn, 6 speeds with sequential command and butterflies on the steering wheel. Weight is also a priority. The Peugeot 308 Racing Cup will be between 1,000 and 1,050 kg. The Peugeot 308 Racing Cup will be available at the end of 2016 for customers from around the world. It is intended to succeed the RCZ Racing Cup in Tourism competitions: the VLN (Germany), the CER (Spain), the CITE (Italy), the BGDC (Belgium) or in endurance championships like the ’24H series’.

The model will be presented in Frankfurt

The Peugeot 308 Racing Cup will be present at the Frankfurt Motor Show from September 17 to 27. He will demonstrate his performances in a dynamic way at the Circuit de Paul Ricard (France) on October 24th and 25th, for a presentation on the occasion of the GT Tour final.
